TAHEREH MAFI
(Book 4.5 in the Shatter Me series)
Synopsis:
Juliette is still reeling from Warner's betrayal, and Kenji is trying to balance his friendship with her with his responsibilities as a leader of the resistance against the Reestablishment. Things get even more interesting when an unexpected person from Omega Point’s past surfaces.
The ending of Restore Me left readers gasping, and this novella full of Kenji’s signature sass and big heart is the perfect story to tide fans over until Defy Me, the shocking fifth book in the Shatter Me series.
My rating: ★★★★★
Categories: YA, romance, science fiction, dystopian, other
Content:
Language: Semi-frequent use of mild language and stronger language ("s" as well as a few instances of "f")
Violence: Mentions and discussions of murder, mobs, physical and emotional abuse, attempted murder, mass murder, gunshots, poison, descriptions of blood, fighting using supernatural abilities (such as strength and telekinesis), some descriptions of dead bodies.
There is also a scene where a character is extremely drunk.
Sex: Allusions to sex, some sexual/romantic thoughts and pining
LGBTQ: There is a brief mention of a trans character. A gay character confesses his feelings.
My Review: Am I biased? Yes. I absolutely adore Kenji (and Aaron and Juliette) and I enjoyed this short novella from his POV so much. None of the novellas really add to the overall story, but I do really love to see different events through the eyes of the other characters.
