(Book 1 of Falcon Point)

Synopsis:

In the early days of World War II, the Lang family lost everything. Eighty years later, it’s time to take it back.

The Nazis have taken control of Austria, and wealthy widower Leopold Lang faces a difficult decision: join the ranks of the foreign power that has taken over his homeland or flee with his children to safety. Leopold makes his choice—but too late. His family is ripped apart, never to be reunited. But decades later, fate brings together the descendants of this broken dynasty in the place where it all began—Falcon Point.

Anna, Cole, and Tess have never met, each relying on fractured pieces of information to understand their Austrian heritage. But when unforeseen opportunities draw these Lang cousins to Falcon Point, they soon discover they are not alone in their quest to claim the coveted property and the fabled treasure hidden within. Unfortunately, another claimant, one with a much darker heritage, is determined to eliminate the Lang family once and for all.

ViolenceThe first part of the story takes place during World War II.  There isn't much description of the actual war, but there is some discussion of the Nazis, murder, running from the Nazis (and being pursued).  Afterwards, there is a character who works as a field agent at the CIA.  A character hires hitmen and they attempt several different methods to kill their targets (threats, freeze, car accident, and shooting).  There are some descriptions of stabbing and gunshots, but almost no description of blood.

Sex: Maybe a few light allusions to sex, three separate romance plot lines (two which include tame kissing), discussion of past relationships, an instance of sexual harassment (female toward male, includes an unwanted kiss).  The romance and developing feelings are all very clean.

LGBTQ: Not present

My Review: This was a fast-paced, relatively quick read involving both history and some suspense.  I grew to like all of the characters and was extremely impressed that four authors managed to weave their stories together pretty seamlessly.  However, I did feel like it would focus on a pair of characters for several chapters straight, then kind of forget about them.  I would have preferred to have the parts spliced together more.  Overall, an entertaining and extremely clean read.
